Description

Electrical contractors in the NECA family can go from subcontractors in the built-environment to being the prime contractor. This session will discuss energy auditing, conceptual design, financing, project performance insurance, bonding, subcontractor management, project management and profitability. Case studies of previous successful projects, presented by NECA member contractors, will be discussed.

Speakers

  • Christopher Smith

    Chris Smith graduated from Pennsylvania State University in the specialized program Energy, Business and Finance. He minored in economics and applied meteorology. His studies were focused on the business, technical and financial sector of the energy and utilities industry and financial hedging strategies that focused on developing and modeling economic and pricing data. He also has experience evaluating energy markets, identifying arbitrage opportunities and optimizing asset risk management.

  • Ramsay Stevens

    Ramsay is the Program Director of NECA’s Energy Conservation and Performance Platform (ECAP). Through ECAP, Ramsay helps NECA Contractors develop and finance energy projects. He holds a Master of Arts from New York University in Sustainable Finance.

  • Mir Mustafa

    Mir M. Mustafa is Executive Director, Business Development, for the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). Prior to joining NECA, Mir practiced law in Chicago, IL before co-founding and managing an energy efficiency, renewable energy and sustainability consulting firm where he served as an advisor to government, corporations, associations, commercial real estate owners, architects, engineers, and contractors. At NECA, Mir is responsible for leading and overseeing the development and growth of profitable new markets and increasing penetration of existing markets for electrical contractors.  Mir is Secretary of the NECA Business Development Task Force and sits on the Leadership Council of the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE) and is board member of the National Lighting Bureau.  His areas of responsibility include the NECA Energy Conservation and Performance Platform (ECAP), the NECA Energy Study Mission, the NECA Business Development Conference, and the NECA Project Excellence Awards.  Mir works closely with the IBEW Business Development and Construction Departments and over 65 NECA, IBEW, and LMCC business developers nationwide.
